Taunton runs from tight city lots to roomy yards out toward the lake, and the grade swing between them is real. On the city lots the patio is compact and the path is narrow, and the whole job is about making a small space feel finished. Out toward the water the lots open up and take a bigger field with a walkway laid out properly, and the drainage plan changes with the ground.

Whatever the lot, the patio gets built to shed water away from the house, not toward it. On the older city lots the grade was often set by eye and the ground has settled unevenly since, so part of the work is reading what the yard actually does now rather than trusting how it was built. That gets settled in person, not from a photo.

Taunton is a moderate run from Mansfield and sits in the same frost zone, so base depth and compaction follow the same rules as everywhere else in the area. Pricing lands in the usual range for a given size and material; the swing on a job here is usually how much the grade has to be corrected before the first scoop of dirt can come out.

Taunton has more than its share of homes where an old deck came down and left a bare patch of dirt against the house. That patch is usually the easiest spot to put a patio, but the grade there has often been changed by years of runoff off the roof, so we read where the water actually goes now before setting a height. A walkway out to the drive usually ties that spot back to the rest of the yard.

If you are in Taunton and want a number, tell us the size, the grade and how you want to use the space. We look at the yard before we quote it, and the estimate is free.
